Trump's First Actions - Disturbing Status Quo

Date: January 25, 2025.
Audio Reading Time:

- We will send astronauts to Mars.

- We will reclaim the Panama Canal.

- The Gulf of Mexico will be called the Gulf of America.

Thus began 20 January 2025. As soon as Trump was sworn in, he started launching salvos and began burying everything that was done during Biden's term.

He announced the U.S. withdrawal from the World Health Organization and the Paris Agreement, stating he would impose a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada.

He declared that he would take the strictest measures regarding immigrants, announcing that those involved in crime would be deported even at the green card stage.

He mentioned plans to enact a law to fire public servants who are not elected and have continuously caused problems and resistance in their appointed positions, replacing them with those on his list.

Obstructing China’s activities

Trump determined his first foreign policy move to be a "meeting with Putin." He even wishes to turn this meeting into a "Yalta Conference" atmosphere.

Trump compares the Nazi Germany of that era to the People's Republic of China today. It must be stopped. His first task will be to distance Russia from China, thereby severing ties between North Korea and China.

Trump already refers to the North Korean leader as a "good boy." Closer relations with Russia would also mean obstructing China’s activities in the Arctic and the Middle East.

Trump seems more inclined to exert pressure on Iran through sanctions rather than military intervention

Trump seems more inclined to exert pressure on Iran through sanctions rather than military intervention. He considers reviving the Abraham Accords, which were suspended due to the atrocities in Gaza.

His statement, "It would be good to build tourist facilities in Gaza," indicates that he does not care about the murdered people and will remain pro-Israel to the end.

Trump now wants NATO countries to contribute 5% of their national income, rather than 2%, and for states to “buy more weapons from them, not to develop their own weapons.”

Considering the rapid momentum in the arms industry of Europe and other NATO countries, it is clear that Trump will disturb the status quo.

However, it is evident that his attitude towards immigrants seems "consistent" with the Italian government's stance. The rising far-right in Germany and France seems poised to feed off Trump’s theses.

Influence in the digital world

Of course, someone might inevitably ask, "Was the Biden administration really that different?" This is true, but it was nearly impossible to get a response from the Biden administration.

President Biden's competency was even being questioned. We all witnessed his and other officials' positions on the Gaza issue. If Trump's direct and sincere bluntness is preferred over Biden's team's false and malicious politeness, nobody can be blamed. At least Trump can talk with those he fights with.

The U.S., which is trying to control the necessary resources for high technology through threatening agreements, has chosen a president that suits itself - Emre Alkin

Regarding the TikTok issue, the 75-day notice may have given Americans enough time to engage with this application. He may consider following the issue through Turkey and Israel because he does not want an American military presence in Syria.

As I have indicated in my previous articles, we can expect that he will embark on a thorough cleaning operation among public employees before delving into these matters.

It seems that Trump will attempt to diminish China's growing influence in the digital world primarily by controlling the supply and demand for chips and slowing down the market entry speed of companies other than American ones.

It would not be wrong to say that the U.S., which is trying to control the necessary resources for high technology through threatening agreements, has chosen a president that suits itself. I hope the new administration will not be worse than the previous one.
