Conditions must improve in order for progress to be discussed. However, measuring progress is not easy. We all have doubts about which information that pours in from all directions is correct. Moreover, information does not always reflect reality.
Therefore, we cannot present the constructs we make from the information we receive as "truth." It would be more ethical to refer to them as "scenarios" or "possibilities."
The set of information and approaches that influence economic decisions differs from those that influence political decisions. The "truth" and "reality" in these two fields are constantly in conflict.
Economic decisions are based as much as possible on reality, while political decisions are based on narratives that the public would find appealing.
For instance, a financial statement prepared with incorrect information might seem "very correct" to an expert, but it does not reflect the truth.
Do not believe until you hear it from me
Now let’s look at things from another angle. Developments, tensions, and reactions in our current age are often real, but they may not be based on accurate information.
However, it is only through accurate information that we can prevent what happens to us. This suggests that there is a reason the political institution keeps correct information from the citizens: to prevent citizens from taking action regarding the future.
The definitions of information, truth, and reality in this century will lead us to violate universal principles
To say "do not believe until you hear it from me" effectively ensures that information is produced from a centralised source, which acts against progress.
In his latest book, Yuval Noah Harari notes, "Interestingly, while populism warns about the dangers of some groups seizing power, it applauds the power falling into the hands of those individuals or groups whom they like."
This means that the definitions of information, truth, and reality in this century will lead us to violate universal principles. It would not be wrong to say that this has already begun.
Tension and peace are environments produced by politics
The reason I am writing these lines is our misconception that the events occurring in politics serve a specific purpose or plan. Those who share and disseminate information or disinformation for their own interests have no guarantees of achieving 100% success.
If the objective is not realised, alternative methods are tried. Here we see that two profiles are experiencing significant problems.
One consists of rational thinkers and those eager for in-depth analysis, while the other reduces developments to simplicity and interprets them with a café approach.
The predictions of both sides are generally inaccurate. Even if they grasp what the target is, they fail to see that it is impossible to achieve it through the applied methods.
Tension and peace are environments produced by politics in accordance with the main objective
After a while, decision-makers realise that they will not obtain results and shift their focus to another purpose, but the two groups I mentioned earlier lose credibility because they cannot adapt their analyses.
In this situation, the most important analytical ability lies in knowing what the primary objective of politics is and understanding that the means employed to achieve it can vary.
What we need to understand is that tension and peace are environments produced by politics in accordance with the main objective. The necessary one is employed as required. There is no logic or purpose in searching for truth behind these.
Why did I explain all this?
The strong can twist justice to their advantage
When the events in Ukraine and Gaza are so apparent, we see that the oppressed are placed in an "unjust" position because of those who interpret reality according to their perspective.
The world is currently reliving the events prior to the First and Second World Wars - Emre Alkin
This indicates that information does not directly provide truth and justice. Furthermore, the strong can twist justice to their advantage. We all see the truth, but due to the fear instilled by the powerful, we are unable to act rightly.
Consequently, the powerful ultimately become justified. While all this is happening, we see the rise of the far-right in the West, first in Hungary, Romania, Austria, Italy, and even France, and now the US elected Trump because of this trend. Last week, the right-wing parties won in Germany.
The world is currently reliving the events prior to the First and Second World Wars. I'm constantly thinking about what might stop this trend. So far, I have not found an answer.
